Festivals and Celebrations in Canada

Canada deals with the diverse and vast people and their festivals reflect their nature. From a cowboy style to the cultural events they had influenced the people of their countries also.

CANADA DAY:

Celebrations of this day is on July 1st. People enjoy with each other with full enjoyment. Canadian wear their flag jackets, T-shirts, shirts on this day which represent their full believe in this. They got lost of beer and enjoy with it. Ottawa is the main spot for this celebration.

 

TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL:

The Toronto International Film Festivals is one of the main film celebrations on the planet, positioning nearly with Cannes and Sundance. Movies, for example, Hotel Rwanda, American Beauty, and The Big Chill made their debuts at this noticeable ritzy occasion held each September.

WINTERLUDE, OTTAWA:

Canadians commend below zero temperatures and waist-high snowdrifts by arranging awesome winter celebrations, for example, Ottawa's Winterlude. For the early three weekend's each February, the country's capital sets on a winter festival that components ice-skating on the world's extended stadium, snow designs, a ice play area, shows and that's only the tip of the iceberg.

Festivals and Celebrations in India


As a highly organized in country where people deal with different religions and beliefs, India celebrates lots of festivals which lives’ in their heart. Every festival is unique in their own perspective. Here are some most different and famous festivals of India:

DIWALI:

Diwali is called the "festival of lights" in India. It is a five day festival which is celebrated with energy and enthusiasm. People blow candles, fire crackers, enjoy fireworks and meet each other during this celebration. Here is the video of the celebration of Diwali in Golden Temple of Amritsar in Punjab.

This festival of lights represent the victory of the god over evil which turn darkness to light. People enjoy this festival with pleasure and lightning.

HOLI:

Relating to this, Indian celebrates one more festival with joy i.e., Holi. These festival is called "festival of colors". This celebration is with colors. People forgive each other for their misunderstanding by putting colors on each other faces. This day they can do whatever they want to make someone happy, for example, they dance, throw colors and water on each other and having party. It is also the festival where all evils are gone and colors comes over darkness with lightning.   

NAVARATRI, DUSSEHRA, AND DURGA PUJA:

The first nine days this full of dance which is for Mother Goddess known as "Navaratri". At the tenth day, it is Dussehra when demon king Ravaan was defeated by Lord Rama. It is also celebrated in the victory of Mother Goddess Durga over an evil buffalo Mahishasura. In Dusherra, People come and see the drama created by the Ramleela team of each province; where whole Ramayan is watched by audience and at the end Ravaan is burnt by Lord Rama.
In the Eastern India, Festival is called as "Durga Puja". Statues of Goddess is made and immersed in the Ganga River. This festival is highly influenced by drama, events, and theoretical events and cultural performances.

Canadian Clothing and Tradition's Best Example

CANADIAN:


Canadian men wear industrial leather dress that contains footwear and fur of stuff leggings, which is mainly worn by countryside part peoples. They like to wear eye-catching dresses. Whereas both men and women wear FUR with a luxurious look. Canadian females wear distinct tops and skirts. Corset bodies, chemises petticoats, aprons and caps Furthermore, the advanced society and era has influenced the Canadians a lot in their dressing sense. They are more professional and sensitive about dressing than other. 

In comparison to Indian Culture, Canadian Wedding are quite different:

In Canada, bride wear white on her marriage which was originated in France and now all bride in Canada wear white on their wedding. It's a tradition that groom and his family go to the bride house at the day of marriage and travel together for enjoyment and getting married. In addition, Groom is not allowed to see the Bride before marriage, as this symbolize that in ancient times, they believe if they each other they may refuse. Men wear black and all people on wedding through birdseeds.

It is tradition that the wedding should take place in the church, where family and friends are together. Bride come with holding flowers in her hands, exchanging vows and rings, and the wedding music. However, Priest conduct the ceremony. Priest ask couple to be married to each other and then they kiss each other in front of all. After that, they leave church and showered with rice and wheat as a symbol of fertility. Then they move to the place where reception takes place. 


After that they go for honeymoon which is the part of wedding. This longs from weeks to months.Another tradition is that guests gather in two lines; as a part of money for honeymoon, they pay a dollar or a more to dance with the newly-wed couple.

Indian Clothing and Tradition's Best Example

INDIAN:

Indian culture is defined as most colourful from other in clothing. Women wear colourful silk saris and Dhoti (unstitched piece of fabric that is knotted round the belly and forelegs) is traditional clothing for males. Also, menfolk wear Kurta (moveable shirt, worn near knee-length). However, for exceptional events men attire Sherwani, which is a elongated fur that is closed up to the neck and down to the knees.

For instance: INDIAN WEDDING

Diversity in India is reflected by Indian weddings as well. In Indian culture, when wedding is happening two families are coming together for their children. In addition, Indian culture is so typical that bride/groom is decided by parents. Nowadays in India, youngsters are moving towards the western culture as they believe to choose their partners on their behalf.



In some cases, people are so much attached to their culture and religion that they should on be go further on basis of horoscopes. Then if, two parties are agreed they got in the preparations. Before Marriage, two families meet to perform rituals in the engagement ceremony which is called "Mangni" (North India) or Nischitartham (South India).Then families give their blessing to couple for starting their new life. After that, their are culture of doing Haldi, Tilak before marriage.


On the day of marriage, bride wears Lehnga or Sari which is is extremely decorative with gold-plate and silver embroidery Shade of Sari or Lehnga depends on how you want you wear or what you like. There are many colours such as red, yellow, green or white. Mostly, red is the common one among all.
Indian People enjoy with colours and customs in their culture.

Language

The First point we are looking between both countries:


India: 
India deal with 28 states and seven territories. According to Gujarat High Court ruling in 2010, there is no official language in India. Most people in India write Devanagari script. But there is misconception to some people that Indians speak Hindi. According to Times of India, 59 percent of India residents speak something other than Hindi such as Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Punjabi, and Urdu are many more.





Canada: 
There are many language people speak in Canada. According to 2006 census, (67.1%) English and (21.5%) French are preferred language. There are five most widely-spoken non-official languages are: Punjabi (0.8%), Spanish (0.7%), Italian (0.6%), Arabic (0.5%).

Indian and Canadian Culture


What do you mean by Culture?

Culture is the knowledge, information and characteristics of a particular group of people which define their language, music, arts, beliefs, religion, cuisine, and social habits. We are here with the two countries culture differences:


INDIAN CULTURE:

Indian culture is one of the oldest; civilization in India began 4,500 years ago. Everybody has their own opinion on the Indian Culture. India has advanced in many of the aspects such as architecture (Taj Mahal), mathematics (Invention of Zero) and medicines (Ayurveda).


CANADIAN CULTURE:

Canadian Culture is really advanced than India. Canada is diverse in culture and it have their own perspectives in every view. In 1860, Canada invited people from other country to settle in their region. Whereas in Canada there are many places to visit such as Niagara Falls, CN tower, Lake Shore.
